How to make the world better and more beautiful by making economics better and beautiful
World in Chaos and Despair: The Healing Power of Poetry
Economics Needs a New Story and New Storytellers
I look forward to a day when students of economics and their teachers are required to study creativity and be inspired by the work of artists, poets, mystics, musicians, sculptors, philosophers, and peacemakers, and thus, bring meaning and purpose into the study of economics. I dream of a time when economic textbooks, as well as addressing how we may manage the economy, would also speak of the need for beauty, intimacy, kindness, empathy, cooperation, enoughness, friendship, fairness, community and love, on who and what we are.
In all, I dream of a day when economics becomes the enabler and the economists as the empowerers of the good life and the good society.
‘We should look beyond economics and open our eyes to beauty.’- Fiona Reynolds, Former Master of Emmanuel College, Cambridge and Director-General of the National Trust.

‘Today’s report should make you angry. People died horribly and futures were wrecked because of ideology, neglect and greed.’
Profit was put ahead of safety, security and people’s lives
What mattered most was the maximisation of profits, minimisation of costs, the highest returns to the shareholders and the most jaw-dropping bonuses for the CEOs, where safety, morality, ethics, kindness, empathy, and concern for humanity and environment meant nothing.
In 2014, the former prime minister, David Cameron, proudly announced that his government had stopped ‘needless health and safety inspections’

Love and Friendship as Manifestation of the Divine
Understanding peace and coexistence holistically to restore, nurture and nourish our common humanity
Love and Friendship: The Heart and Soul of Peacemaking
‘One’s life has value so long as one attributes value to the life of others, by means of love, friendship, indignation and compassion.’- SIMONE DE BEAUVOIR
Love and friendship, generosity of heart and spirit, always ready to welcome strangers into their midst, are profoundly ingrained in the heritage of the Middle Eastern people. This must be a reminder that peace and coexistence is possible, should the region decide to rediscover its true civilisation.
Middle East: The Cradle of Civilisation
The ancient Middle East gave rise to some of the greatest empires in human history, including Mesopotamia, Babylonia, the Persian Empire and the Byzantine Empire.
The ancient Middle East is the birthplace of Abrahamic religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Three religions, one God.
The Middle East is the land of equals in the eyes of creation and the creator, where everyone is special and no one is exceptional.
